Tire pressure monitors
Has anyone experience with the LED valve stem caps that monitor tire pressure?
Tire pressure caps, Tire pressure indicators, tire monitor, monitor tire pressure, tire gauges - led trailer lights, white led backup lights, led truck lights, led turn signals, LED Cab Marker Lights, Tire pressure indicators, Tire pressure caps, tir
The above link is an example. I am going to give them a try on my TV.

Re: Tire pressure mointors
I will interested on your findings of this type of monitor. I keep reading about the Pressure Pro and Doran being the way to go. Will let you know if I find out anything about the LED'S.

Re: Tire pressure mointors
I just went to the web site you provided and looked at the caps. As I understand the description the only notice you get is a blinking light on the cap itself. No indication inside of the TV which is where I would want to see any kind of warning before the tire goes so soft that it comes apart. Is this the way you understand it?

Re: Tire pressure mointors
I had a simular device on the tires of my Jetta. One day I had a low tire and took it in to my favourite tech who advised that they jam sometimes, letting air out of the tire. I think what you're looking at is a very simular device. He told me the best cap is the old fashioned, plain and simple kind. The best way to monitor is by checking the tire pressure with a guage. I would not recommend them.

Yes, the LED will blink when the pressure drops 8 psi from the cold pressure when the cap is installed.
I plan to use them on my TV. I think I could feel a tire going soft in the TV. The cost about $7 each.
For the trailer I have installed the PressurePro and it is working good. I have only used it for one trip so far. I would not be able to feel a trailer tire going down. The sensors for the tires cost $50 each. Can not afford to add the TV.

Re: Tire pressure mointors
The LED pressure caps arrived today and the instructions say that the cap will remember the 1st. pressure seen when installed and will light the LED when the pressure falls 4 psi below the 1st. pressure. The internal battery, not replaceable, will last 2 yrs. in standby and 3 weeks if blinking. The cap will blink once the pressure falls below 4 psi from 1st. pressure and continue to blink until pressure is back within 4 psi of the 1st. pressure.
I will install and then continue to check and adjust the tire pressure from time to time and feel good that I do not see the LED blinking. If it ever blinks it will have paid for itself.
I will let you know after some road experience.

Re: Tire pressure mointors
I've been mulling over something like this:
Tire Pressure Monitoring System PressurePro
Not overly expensive for a dual axle trailer, not the least expensive thing I've seen either. I do lean toward doing something because you can't really tell what's going on until it's usually too late. I've seen some somewhat torn up skins around the wheel wells from time to time, and though this won't 100% guarantee it won't happen, having some sort of pressure monitor does give you an advantage IMHO.

Re: Tire pressure monitors
I wonder if the pressure guage would throw your tire out of balance if they are added without the tire being balanced with them on the tire.

The company says it won't but I also added Centramatics to all four hubs. They act as a counter to any out of balance type issues and even these slight additions. You can read a bit more about them here:

The company says it will not make the wheels out of balance if they are large. The instructions say if it is a concern to add 1/2 oz opposite the valve stem. They must have done some calculations since the sensor is about 3/4 oz and is more near the center of the wheel.
I am going to add the 1/2 oz.
I am very pleased with the PressurePro.
