Default Bath tub repair

We took our 1979 Ambassador out for its maiden voyage (with us) last weekend. We discovered a small crack in the tub, which is original. Does anyone have any tips on repairing it? It's in the inner-most corner of the tub. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks! Jenne

Are you able to remove the tub/shower unit? This would be the correct
and most thorough repair method. Use fiberglass resin with mesh cloth
from the rear. If needed [small crack may not be noticeable] you can gel
coat [boat hull finish] the top.

Hello Jendon, I've had 3 tubs repaired in the past (none in an Airstream) 2 with cracks and 1 with a hole from dropping a drywall knife from 8 ft. Yep the blade stuck right in there.

All three times I called the local plumbing supplier and they gave me the # of their guy that repairs them. They did an excellent job. Cracks and hole never re-appeared and the finish was a perfect match.

Be Cool, Jody

Yea really. Owner didn't think too much of it either.

Did you watch?

Briefly, all the repairs were done on the outer surface. Looked much like you would expect body repair on a Corvette to be. Sprayed the color on with an airbrush. Took several coats, heat lamps and all of that. Then polished it out with a big buffer.
