The Four Corners Unit of the WBCCI is pleased to announce the much anticipated Third Annual Vintage Restoration Rally.
This is a rally for anyone interested in learning all of the ins and outs of restoring a vintage trailer, or just seeing how these trailers are put together.
This rally is part seminar (classroom) and part hands-on and does not require you to bring your trailer. Anticipated topics are as follows:
• Complete overview of trailer restoration – with lots of photos to see
• Rivet and skin skills taught by Aircraft experts
• Cabinet building skills
• Zolatone painting (this alone will be worth the trip)
• Electrical – basic and high-tech wiring
• Axle replacement
• Door rebuilding/repair
• Solar – including converters/inverters, surge protection and batteries
In addition to the above – and keeping in mind that some of you will have attended previously – we are adding and/or focusing on these additional topics. These will be covered more in depth than in previous years:
• More interior restoration – electrical, plumbing, insulation
• Charging system install
• Gray and black tank installation
• Furniture install
• Window removal and rebuild
These skills are not taught by hobbyists – they are taught by professionals who do this for a living.
We will have trailers at the rally that we’ll be working on and have tons and tons of tools around so you can get hands on experience.
Area 63 Productions will be back this year – a major force in Airstream restoration on the west coast. Master Tech RV will also be in attendance – they do premier solar installations.
We are also proud and excited to announce a very special guest – Pee Wee Schwamborn. Pee Wee’s mother was Wally Byam’s cousin and started the WBCCI for Wally. Pee Wee attended many early rallies with his Mom and Wally and has an almost photographic memory of it all.

4CU 004 FCU Vintage Restoration Rally - Page 2 - Airstream Forums to see this is a must attend event – this is the only rally who’s focus is Airstream restoration taught by professionals – you will see and learn far more than you would think possible.
So, you want details…? Ok – the rally will be held the second weekend in June (10-13) at Enchanted Trails RV Park and Trading Post in Albuquerque, NM (this is an old Route 66 trading post – see
Home for park info). We are holding the rally later this year for better weather (less wind), plus the pool will be open for the kids! Our rally fee is $50 per person or $85 for a couple, and $100 for the family plus a screaming deal on Enchanted Trails’ campsites of just $15 per night (thank you Vicki!!).
So what do you get for your 50/85/100 bucks?
• A great learning experience
• A catered meal on Saturday night (so you don’t have to worry about cooking after working hard all day)
• A continental breakfast on Sunday morning (so you won’t have to worry about cooking after staying up late on Saturday night).
Please e-mail us at
fourcornersunit@hotmail.com and we will forward you a sign up sheet with instructions.
Don’t hesitate – contact us now. We look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque!
