On the way to the Madison rally we had occasion to stop for the night in Crawford county Iowa. We have found many counties in Iowa have in the past developed a tremendous number of county parks.'
This time we found Yellow Smoke Campground in Crawford county off US30 just East of Denison.
As you can see from the link below, 61 spaces each with 30A electric and water on a lake complete with walking paths, beach the works. $15 a night.

While we weren't on our way to Madison, we stayed at Scott County Park (just north of Davenport IA) on Sunday, June 28th in order to get to the AS dealer for some badly needed repairs the next day. This park is OUTSTANDING. Well organized, clean, friendly staff. We'd stay there again if the opportunity presents itself again.

There is also a very nice county park in Winterset, Iowa. Winterset is a lovely old town, with a well-preserved Main street/town square area, and all this in the midst of Covered Bridge country.
