Just purchased a new Chevy 3500 with their built-in brake controller.. Good idea but not for a trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes as our 2008 31 Classic Limited is equipped. The built-in Controller doesn't work so you have to have a second controller wired seperately. The Chevy dealer I purchased the truck from performed the fix per GM bulletin and expects to be reimbursed by GM for the required fix. Disappointing Yes, GM needs to adress this in my opinion. No where in their literature do they mention this little exception. My Airstream dealer service writer alerted me to the problem after I bought the truck and before I hooked on to the trailer.

Thank you for the tip! I'm going back to my dealer to see if they'll reimburse me for my after-market controller. Best wishes, John
